Great bag but zips & feet could be better
I paid around £155 in the sale. Used it for a whole season now so thought I’d leave a detailed review. I’ve spotted 2 flaws which are 1) when I ram the main pocket full of jackets because the weather is so interchangeable at St Andrews, the zip tends to split as I zip it up 2) the left rubber foot fell off the left leg. Luckily I saw it, so just wrapped a bit of black electrical tape around the bottom of the leg to fatten it up a tad and then slid the foot back on. I bought the bag as a pencil bag so only ever carry a half set. I have a trolley bag for when I’m playing a medal/comp. There may be some golfers trying to stuff a full set into this bag, and I’d say it’s not capable of that. So this may explain some (not all) of the negative reviews. I bought this bag to replace my Titleist Players 4 Carbon, which I bought to replace my Mizuno Aerolite Micro 06. The Mizuno fell apart after after 3 or 4 season of squeezing in a half set. The Titleist was slightly larger and the material for the main pocket was slightly stretchy, a great design idea, and worked well for me for 2 seasons but I wanted something with a tad bit more room and less boring. Also, for those who understand how the leg mechanism works on stand bags, there’s 2 options: external lever (like this G/fore bag) or an built in base lever (my previous Mizuno and Titleist bags). The built in base lever drove me mad because it tangles the grips when legs were expended. The external lever solution doesn’t look as nice but it’s far more effective. This G/fore bag also beats the Players 4 Carbon in terms of style, sturdier legs (so far) but not on zip and fabric quality. Another note based on one of the other negative reviews: The top divider of this bag looks and feels cheap, and I was a bit shocked when I opened the box, but a year down the line I’ve grown to appreciate this because cheap plain plastic stays looking like cheap plain plastic. Both other bags showed wear in the divider area from sliding clubs in/out. The soft fabric had worn away and torn.
